Composition:
- This photo has a clear demonstration of pattern and texture with the staggered brick background while showcasing a patterned foreground with the shape of the seat of the chair and the curved lines of the back of the chair. These components form layers of texture and bring the viewer's eye through the picture and along the lines. I also considered the rule of thirds when taking the photo by placing the chair in the left half of the photo rather than directly in the center of the frame.
- When taking this photo, the aperture was placed on a medium value to show the crisp chair but also slightly blur the background. It was a cloudy day so the white balance was set to clouds with a fast shutter speed of about 1/100 to get a clear and crisp photo. The photo was taken from a little bit of a higher point of view to be looking down toward the chair to also capture the pattern of the brick floor. The distance between the camera and the subject (the chair) was about two or three feet to get a close shot of the details while getting the background in the frame.
- By changing this photo into black and white, it changes the bright lighting and color into more of a calming and relaxed mood. The tones of black and white become contrasting between the dark lines and the gray toned brick. The point of view shows more of the background behind the foreground with the layered texture and the leading lines create an interesting path through the photo to hold the viewer's attention.
Composition:
- Within this image is a busy component that leads the viewer through the image with the winding lines that create shapes and negative space throughout the image. The bright colors create a fun and interesting image that includes complex shapes and patterns as the image continues.
- When taking this image, the camera was in a completely dark space with a very slow shutter speed of about four seconds to create a painting of light that shows these vivid colors and distinct lines. The perspective of this image was low while aiming toward a set of Christmas lights on the floor as the camera was moved around quickly in circles for the few seconds of the shutter speed. Doing so, created the shapes and lines that were formed from the small still dots of light that were photographed.
- Mainly, this image creates an interesting format and pattern that holds the attention of the viewer. The bright, vivid colors are compelling and create a fun mood that stays with the viewer throughout the photo. The point of view is interesting because it would not be assumed when first looking at the photo that in reality was of a still and small object.
Composition:
- This photo was composed in a way that the focal point would be in the rightmost third of the photo to visibly focus on the text on the pole while also showing the distinct texture of the wooden post. This photo shows the powerline as it moves up the pole and leads the viewers eye farther away and into the distant sky.
- When taking this photo, the camera was placed on a low aperture / F stop to create a shallow depth of field which would blur the background but crisply show the letters of the foreground on the pole. The white balance was set to shade due to the cloudy conditions of the day the photo was taken. To get a clear photo, the shutter speed was fast and set to around 1/100. The camera was pointed almost directly up to get a low perspective while also showing the height of the pole and creating the leading lines that continue through the photo.
- The most interesting quality of this photo is the low point of view which changes the perspective of the viewer. The pole seems to extend extremely far yet as the viewer, it is obvious that this is not really the case. The perspective shows the small details of the wood and the sign while blurring the trees and above details instead of focusing on every aspect of the photo, which will further hold the viewer's attention. All of the qualities, including the shallow depth of field and the enhanced textured wrap the entire photo together to compose an organized and deep photo.
